If Tom would prefer to live a straight life than a gay life, Tom may—just may—be able to satisfy his sexual desires with a female if she, like the woman on the left on the book cover, is relatively muscular compared to other females. If Tom wants to touch Bob’s sex organ, Tom is probably gay rather than sthenolagnia. David's theory is based on his own life and his study of psychology. When he was 14 in 1967, he was sexually excited looking at muscular boys. When he began dating at 16, he dated girls. Homosexuality was taboo in the 1960s and 1970s. For a variety of reasons, David dated only women and eventually happily married a woman. But many of these women were relatively muscular compared to other women. David wonders who he would date if he were 16 today: girls or boys? David is a lawyer in Connecticut. He earned his B.A. from George Washington University in 1974, J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis in 1977, and M.S. in psychology from Purdue University Global in 2021.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eDavid published an earlier version of this book in 2020, titled I Had to Choose, and 2023, titled Gay, Straight, Bisexual, or Muscle Fixation? Several people suggested that his sexual journey would make an entertaining Hollywood movie. David was reluctant to use the real names of his friends and relatives in a movie, so in 2025 he wrote a novel titled Who Will Cliff Date? David is “Cliff.” The names and places of the friends and relatives differ from the real ones, and a few (not many) of the events in the novel are fictional.
