The National Scenic Byway Program was established in 1991 by an Act of Congress to help recognize, preserve, and enhance selected roads throughout the country with outstanding scenic, historic, cultural, natural, recreational, and archaeological qualities. The roads are nominated for national status as a National Scenic Byway or All-American Road by a state, Native American tribe, or a federal land management agency after the road has been designated by one of those agencies as a Scenic Byway.
Currently, ten Scenic Byways or All-American Roads in Oregon have been granted national recognition. This guide includes those ten routes, plus three other notable routes that have received Oregon state recognition.
