This is a true story of being convinced, and reluctantly, walking Tasmania’s Overland Track. It is a sequence of comical events that take place as I agree to walk this challenging, yet incredile trail. Also, I reflect what happened when we say yes to something well beyond our comfort zone. This book is not intended to be a comprehensive guide to hiking the Overland Track; there is already plenty of practical information available elsewhere. Instead, it offers a lightly humorous retelling of the events leading up to, and unfolding on the trail. It’s interwoven with fascinating historical tales of legendary pioneers and reflections on sharing this challenging journey with a random group of wonderful and inspiring people.
The reason I wrote this account is because of the incredile experience I had on the trail, and the slight hope that others could be inspired to occasionally say yes to take on a challenge that sits just beyond their comfort zone. You never know what qualities you might discover about yourself, the people amazing you could meet, and how enriching the experience could be — unless you occasionally, give it a go.
