Writer Kit Foxglove is moving out west in search of fresh air and a new start when her train is attacked by bandits. Although local hero Squarejaw Jordan stops the robbery, the adventure lands Kit in the hospital of a tiny town in the middle of the desert.

Low on funds, she takes a job writing about the masked vigilante while she waits for the next train to come through town. But soon the bandit queen One-Eyed Sue begins targeting anyone who helps Squarejaw. Will Kit’s stories mark her as Sue’s next victim?

Further trouble arises when a new sheriff arrives, determined to arrest the vigilante. With danger pressing in from the law and the wild desert, can Kit protect both herself and Squarejaw?
