Life has never gone the way thirteen-year-old Rufus Amata wanted.

Alas, it wasn’t meant to be. He spends his days supporting his insane father and broken mother. It’s not the work that bothers him, but the monotony of it all.

When he meets a group of Christians one hot summer day, Rufus’s life changes forever. They aren’t anything like the rumors would suggest. The more he learns about these strange people, the more he finds himself sucked into their little world.
