I set out to win a contest, but my journey became so much more.
I found this site, Reedsy, who has a creative writing contest. They offered a prize to the winner, a new prize each week. So I started to write, and my journey began. Fifty two weeks, one year. A year of happiness, sadness, and redemption. A year of heroes, villains, and those trying to make it to the next day. A year of characters exploring the bounds of knowledge, make their way in the world, and others just trying to tell it off.
There are tributes, sagas, and genuine moments of humanity, each in under 3000 words. I touched many genres, wrote stories that I never would have thought were in me. I wrote stories that brought tears to mine own eyes, and was even censored by the site itself.
I have selected a sample of those stories to share with you, plus two others which I didn't submit to Reedsy, but that I entered into my local writers conference and won. I offer my hand into these worlds, one that you might see a bit of yourself in these characters.
