Meditations: The Feminine Stoic Edition

Meditations is the personal journal of Marcus Aurelius, Roman emperor and one of the foremost philosophers of Stoicism. Written approximately two thousand years ago, its reflections on Stoicism, ethics, and good character continue to offer guidance across the centuries.

This edition is based on the 1902 translation by George W. Chrystal and adapted by Catherine Yee. The text has been preserved substantially as originally published, with one notable editorial change: feminine and neutral forms have replaced masculine references throughout the text. No major attempt has been made to modernize the language or alter the philosophical content.

The Feminine Stoic Edition invites readers to encounter one of history's most prominent philosophical works through a feminine lens. By adapting the text's gendered language, this edition seeks to make Stoic wisdom more accessible and relatable for women and girls while preserving the substance of Marcus Aurelius's reflections.
