This play tells story of Sr. Ignatia Gavin, one of the first medical professionals to treat addiction as a disease. Known as the angel of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), she worked with Dr. Bob Smith at St. Thomas Hospital in Akron, Ohio, during the 20th Century. She gave her patients a Sacred Heart Medallion to help them stay sober, with the caveat that they return it if they drank again. This piece of historical fiction hopes to represent her well and bring the Twelve Steps of AA with the Twelve Promises of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to help people heal.
