The Thirteenth Son: The Hawethorne Chronicles
My name is Leviticus Hawethorne. I'm the thirteenth son of a king.
Being the thirteenth son sounds impressive, until you realize there are twelve people in front of you who are older, more experienced, and significantly less likely to injure themselves with a sword.
Up until last week, everything was great. There was a war, mysterious howling in the woods, a marriage rejection, and a strange weapon found in the grass. Average life at the castle.
Then everything changed. I was called in, and King Lorz told me that someone was kidnapping his sons.
My brothers.
One by one, they started disappearing — until I was the only Hawethorne left to find them. So I did the only thing I could: gathered the unlikeliest team of allies I could find, and went looking for answers in a kingdom full of riddles, wolves, and a queen with a very old grudge.
There's just one problem. An ancient prophecy says the hero who can stop her is "the thirteenth son" — and I've spent my whole life being told I'm the brother who doesn't matter.
