Abbytude: Abby, the Small Dog with a Big Attitude
Abby's story is a testament to the power of kindness, respect, and love.
I encountered Abby, a small poodle mix dog, at an animal shelter on the South Side of Chicago. She was a stray, enduring a harsh Midwestern winter, having suffered neglect and abuse, leaving her fearful and reclusive.
Upon seeing her, I instantly knew that this frail 10-pound dog deserved a new beginning, along with a bath and a warm meal!
Initially, Abby lived with my elderly parents. She formed an extraordinary connection with my father, who found renewed purpose in caring for her, providing Abby with a secure and affectionate environment where she learned to trust humans again.
After the death of my parents, Abby joined my husband Michael, me, and a puppy named Lula in our home. Abby flourished, transforming into a confident and expressive dog.
Abby learned to vocalize her feelings with her own voice, we call it her 'big dog bark!'
We find that although she is small, she's got a big attitude. She's not bossy, she's got 'Abbytude!'
