Kirill Troussov is currently among the most sought-after violinists of today. This album recorded with his sister Alexandra Troussova and marking his MDG debut. Perfect technique, elegance of execution, and an unrivaled tone-color palette are the hallmarks of Kirill Troussov. On this Recital CD there are favorites like Khachaturian s Saber Dance and Rachmaninoff s Vocalise as well as Alfred Schnittke s wonderful Suite in the Old Style and Prokofiev s Sonata No. 2 offering a fond homage to long-forgotten times.

Troussov s violin, is one of the most significant of all musical instruments, also recalls the past: Tchaikovsky s Violin Concerto was premiered on this Brodsky Stradivarius once owned by Adolf Brodsky, and Troussov in every way proves to be the legitimate heir to
this tradition.

Tchaikovsky contributes the Meditation, actually intended as the middle movement of his magnificent Violin Concerto, and the Valse-cherzo to this very personal program.

Troussov claims his place in the best Russian violin tradition: extreme virtuosity is combined with esprit and elegance for the purest listening pleasure. This brother and sister performed together on the stage even when they were children so it is not surprising that they have developed a perfect mutual understanding. Every
gesture and every detail are just right, and the seeming effortlessness with which they perform also allows them spontaneous freedoms lending the music an entirely new dimension.
