SUNSHINE AFTER SHOWERS
She grew up between two mothers—one who gave birth to her, and one who tried to hold her life together. Neither offered stability, and from an early age she learned that love, addiction, and mental illness could be deeply intertwined.
SUNSHINE AFTER SHOWERS is a memoir about growing up in emotional chaos and learning, over time, how to build a life beyond it.
Her biological mother struggled with alcoholism and severe mental illness, while her stepmother provided structure within a fractured family dynamic that was both supportive and complicated. Navigating between them meant navigating confusion, loyalty, grief, and love that never fit into simple definitions.
As she enters adulthood, her story expands into long-term depression, treatment, and medication; marriage and divorce; and single motherhood. She learns to raise her daughter while rebuilding her own sense of stability, often while still managing the lingering effects of earlier trauma.
Workplaces bring their own challenges—moments that test boundaries, voice, and self-trust. At the same time, recovery, sobriety, friendship, and travel become anchors that help her move forward.
This is not a story of perfect resolution. It is a story of persistence.
